Passionate about Dutch craftsmanship and the development of art and trade in the golden age, I am always looking for a translation that I can incorporate or translate into my contemporary art. The traditional techniques of Delft Blue painting in combination with my contemporary painting style make my collection of handmade and hand-painted delftware unique and playful without losing its traditional look.

Technology

The age-old recipe for "real" Delft Blue is not something you can buy ready-made, the mixture consisting of cobalt oxide can be diluted with water and discolored due to a chemical reaction during firing. With gold accents, also called gold luster, the ceramic must be fired for a 3rd time. This makes the process extra costly.

Artist Note: Each object is freehand painted by Rick Triest, making each piece a unique collector's item. The photos are an impression, they are handmade products, so the color may differ in intensity. Each piece is packed with care and attention for shipment.
