Bronze statues & sculptures by Rick Triest From the iconic canal houses of Amsterdam to refined figurative sculptures, my bronze works are a three-dimensional expression of my artistry—a fusion of form, character, and craftsmanship.
Each sculpture is created using the age-old lost-wax casting technique and finished by hand. Whether featuring a high-polish bronze surface or rich patinas in shades of blue, green, or gold, every finish lends the piece its own distinct character.

From Painting to Sculpture My bronze sculptures are closely linked to my paintings. The same attention to form, composition, and character is reflected in my three-dimensional work.
A prime example is my series of Amsterdam canal houses. The playful facades and distinctive lines—familiar from my paintings—have been translated into tangible sculptures. These are not precise architectural miniatures, but rather art objects that preserve specific irregularities and my own personal artistic signature.
In my figurative sculptures as well—such as *Lady Bobby* and the bronze lion’s head—expression, presence, and detail play a vital role.
The Lost-Wax Method – An Ancient Craft My bronze sculptures are created using the *cire perdue* technique, better known as the lost-wax method—a traditional casting process that has been practiced for thousands of years.
A wax version is created based on the original model. This is then encased in a fireproof mold, after which the wax is removed. Molten bronze is then poured into the resulting hollow space.
Once cooled, the mold is removed, and the finishing process begins. Casting channels are smoothed away, surfaces are refined, and details are meticulously polished and perfected.
For this specialized casting process, I collaborate with experienced bronze artisans—a partnership that brings together my artistic designs and traditional craftsmanship.
The Art of Patination What I find particularly compelling about bronze is the amount of character that can be added through the finishing process.
By brushing, polishing, or chemically patinating the surface, a wide range of color nuances and textures can be created—from warm, lustrous golden bronze to deep shades of green, blue, or dark patinas accented by polished gold.
The contrast between a colored patina and the gleam of polished bronze is a hallmark of my work. Light catches the contours, lending each sculpture a remarkable sense of depth.
Exclusive Sculptures and Limited Editions My bronze collection comprises various series, unique pieces, and limited-edition sculptures.
Each piece is finished with meticulous care. Depending on the specific work, the sculptures are signed, numbered, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Bronze is an exceptionally durable material. Its weight, the craftsmanship involved, and its timeless aesthetic ensure that a bronze sculpture remains a work of art that can endure for generations.
Bespoke Bronze Art In addition to my own collection, I also create commissioned bronze sculptures.
For instance, I produced personalized bronze canal houses for Roland Berger Amsterdam as an anniversary gift. These pieces were crafted in polished bronze and featured individual engravings.
I am also available for bespoke commissions for other special occasions, corporate anniversaries, or personal gifts.
All available bronze sculptures can be purchased directly through my Atelier & Gallery. Would you like to view a piece in person or discuss the possibilities for a commission? You are welcome to visit by appointment.
