A Recognizable Signature Style My paintings are characterized by a bold use of color, a free brushstroke, and a strong focus on composition. Architecture, light, and the beauty of everyday subjects serve as recurring sources of inspiration.
Amsterdam holds a special place in this regard. I translate its iconic canal houses, historic facades, and reflections in the water into expressive paintings where deep blue, white, and gold converge.
My golden line drawings have become an inseparable part of my work. Rather than merely tracing contours, they impart rhythm, depth, and a unique dynamic to the composition—resulting in paintings that shift and evolve depending on the light and the space in which they are displayed.
The Art of Painting Beneath the effortless appearance of a finished painting lies a carefully constructed process.
In my acrylic paintings, I combine spontaneous charcoal sketches with multiple layers of paint, transparent glazes, and dry-brush techniques. Thick, textured paint is balanced by refined details, with the signature golden lines applied by hand as a final touch.
My oil paintings possess a different character, drawing on classical techniques such as underpainting, glazing, impasto, and *alla prima*. By blending these methods, I achieve rich color nuances and a remarkable sense of depth.
While each discipline carries its own distinct aesthetic, both share an unwavering attention to materials, light, and the quality of the painted surface.
Nearly Twenty Years as an Artist Over the course of nearly two decades as an independent artist, I have built an extensive body of work. My paintings have found their way into private collections, galleries, hotels, and corporate collections—both in the Netherlands and far beyond.
My distinctive visual language has also served as the foundation for international art and design collections. Yet, for me, the original painting remains the heart of my artistic practice.
